PACKING INSTRUCTIONS

Packing Lamps
Lampshades are to be packed separately in 3.1 or 4.5 size boxes. Do not attempt to pack anything with lampshades that will shift during moving and smash your shades. Lampshades can be carefully stacked in boxes with paper between and around shades. These boxes should be marked "TOP LOAD ONLY - LAMP SHADES". The actual lamp should be broken down with the lamp wrapped separately from the lamp assembly and light bulb. Always pad the bottom of the dish-pak/barrel and wrap each item separately. It may save space to invert a lamp with an upright lamp, pad the top of the box and make sure that the carton is closed firmly. Packing light bulbs in the same box with lamps ensures that you will easily and quickly be able to utilize the lamp when you unpack.

Packing Other Breakables
Place padding/packing paper on top of items before closing carton. Carton is to be closed firmly flat. A correctly packed dish-pak/barrel is extremely heavy. Nothing is to be clanging, rattling or shifting when the box is moved. Try to make all tiers level before starting on the next tier. Tiers may be leveled with padding/packing paper. The top 1/3 of carton should be used for fragile "what-nots", stemware, glassware and cups. These items should be placed upright, as you would fill them with liquids. Each piece should be individually wrapped with paper. The middle 1/3 of carton is used for medium weight items, heavy mugs, dinner plates, saucers, bread and butter plates, medium weight "nik-naks". Each item should be wrapped individually and placed in box as they would hang on wall or sit on a table. The bottom 1/3 of carton is used for heavy Corningware, stoneware, serving/baking dishes, heavy ceramic pots/dishes, ceramic cookie jars, Visions cookware, etc. The bottom is heavy duty. Always pad the bottom of the box before beginning to pack. Keep in mind that the bottom tier must withstand the weight of the top two tiers. Extra padding/packing paper may be needed for items on the bottom tier.

Miscellaneous
Do not pack flammable liquids or solids, explosives (fireworks, ammunition, etc.), compressed gases (aerosol cans, gas grill tanks, etc), oxidizers (pool cleaners, household chemicals, etc), poisonous materials, infectious substances, radioactive materials, dry ice. All equipment must be emptied of fuel/oil. We do not cover damage related to packing and/or moving these items.

Bundle together garden tools, loose wood and odd sized items with string or tape.

When packing in larger cartons, remember to put lighter, less bulky items into them.

Do not pack valuables such as checkbooks, passports, credit cards, jewelry, cash, etc. These types of items are the responsibility of the customer.

Remove all valuables and breakables from drawers. Clothing may remain in drawers. Drawers may remain in furniture.

Packed items are not to be clanging, rattling, or shifting. Boxes are to be packed firmly.

All boxes are to be completely closed and taped shut.
